What’s New in the 2027 Kia Telluride: Turbo Engine, First-Ever Hybrid & More
The Telluride just went through its first full redesign since launch, and it’s more than a new grille. A new turbocharged engine, a first-ever Hybrid option, a roomier cabin, and an updated safety suite all arrive for 2027. Here’s what actually changed.

A New Turbocharged Engine
The previous generation’s 3.8L V6 is gone. In its place, every gas Telluride now runs a 2.5L turbocharged engine making 274 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and available in FWD or AWD. It’s a shift toward more torque lower in the rev range, which matters for towing and merging onto the highway loaded down with passengers and gear.
Telluride Hybrid, a First for the Nameplate
For the first time, Telluride buyers can choose a Hybrid. It pairs the turbocharged 2.5L engine with dual electric motors for 329 hp combined and 339 lb-ft of torque, run through a 6-speed automatic. It’s available in FWD, AWD, or an e-AWD configuration, and it’s rated up to 35 MPG combined with an estimated range of up to 637 miles, meaning meaningfully fewer fuel stops on a drive out to Vegas or down the hill to the coast.
More Cargo Room
The redesign added cargo space across the board:
- 22.3 cubic feet behind the third row
- 48.7 cubic feet with the third row folded flat
- 89.3 cubic feet maximum with both rear rows folded down
Those figures are for gas models. Kia lists the Turbo-Hybrid at 21.3, 47.7 and 88.3 cubic feet. Kia also points to class-leading second-row legroom for this generation, part of what it’s calling the new “Grandioso” cabin design.
A Smarter Safety Suite
The Kia Drive Wise suite gets meaningful upgrades for 2027, moving from reactive alerts toward more anticipatory systems:
- Highway Driving Assist 2, combining adaptive cruise control with lane centering to reduce fatigue on long drives
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, now with Junction Turning for intersection safety
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot View Monitor, which shows a live camera feed on the dash
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Rear Occupant Alert
- Driver Attention Warning and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist
- Safe Exit Assist, which helps prevent doors opening into passing traffic
New Trim Lineup and Technology
The 2027 lineup includes the LX, S, EX, EX Hybrid, SX, SX Prestige, and the off-road-oriented X-Pro. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard across the range, while SX and SX Prestige step up to a dual-panoramic curved display with Meridian Premium Audio, and SX Prestige adds Nappa leather and a Head-Up Display. The X-Pro trim is built around towing and light off-roading, with 9.1 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and a heavy-duty cooling system.
